{"id":46,"date":"2009-01-10T10:09:51","date_gmt":"2009-01-10T16:09:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dennissherman.com\/dennis\/?p=46"},"modified":"2009-01-10T15:38:57","modified_gmt":"2009-01-10T21:38:57","slug":"good-neighbors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/dennissherman.com\/dennis\/2009\/01\/good-neighbors\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Neighbors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Chicago Alley in the Snow by dennis_sherman, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/drs1956\/3185104853\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3400\/3185104853_5ea6b6e1ac_m.jpg\" alt=\"Chicago Alley in the Snow\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s really nice to live on a block with good neighbors.\u00a0 We&#8217;re in the midst of what is going to be several days of more or less continuous snow in Chicago, and I&#8217;m seeing some real neighborliness in action.<\/p>\n<p>I came home from work last night, and found the snow that came down during the day had been cleared from my front sidewalk.\u00a0 It turns out the guy two houses down got a new snowblower, and was enjoying using it.\u00a0 And the neighbor on the corner across the alley had cleared most of the alley that I ususally do, before I got home.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, another four inches 0r so came down overnight, so we were all out again this morning.\u00a0\u00a0 Half my front walk was cleared before I got there by Two-Houses-Down.\u00a0 The bit of walk between sidewalk and street was done by Next-Door, on his way across the street to help blow the snow there.\u00a0 Across-The-Alley cleared what I hadn&#8217;t gotten done while I was around front on our house.\u00a0 Which I discovered when I did Next-Door-On-The-Corner&#8217;s walk, as I went around the corner from our front to the alley to finish up and put the snowblower away.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve got more snow on the way &#8212; still coming down in fact, and we&#8217;ll all be out again this afternoon, I&#8217;m sure.\u00a0 Helping each other out, little rays of sunshine in the Chicago winter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s really nice to live on a block with good neighbors.\u00a0 We&#8217;re in the midst of what is going to be several days of more or less continuous snow in Chicago, and I&#8217;m seeing some real neighborliness in action.
